01
Gather this year’s evidence
Collect the renewal notice, policy or benefit summary, premium information and a summary of what you paid for care. Note any household, job, location or income changes. Avoid uploading medical histories or identity documents to a general contact form.
02
Look for what changed
Compare the new premium, deductible, copays, coinsurance, exclusions and applicable cost-sharing limits. Check whether providers, drug coverage or pharmacy rules changed. A plan name staying the same does not mean every benefit is unchanged.
03
Compare plausible care needs
Consider both a lower-use year and a year with more covered care. Add premiums to expected cost sharing, then identify expenses outside the plan’s protections. Use estimates as planning tools, not promises about future bills. Ask for written clarification of anything uncertain.
04
Decide with the dates in view
Check current enrollment windows and coverage start dates with the relevant program. Georgia Access is the official state source; dates can change by plan year. If switching, confirm the new effective date and first-payment requirements before canceling your current plan.
